Castle Wars and Other Stuff

So the group I blogged about the other day had what I thought was another good suggestion for today’s outing. Jelly (new link, update people!) and her guy Hawks led us all in Castle Wars, the brainchild of RacerX Gullwing. I had zero idea wtf to do because my Quicktime broke and I couldn’t watch the movie with instructions, but I kind of got the hang of it in the end and Jelly helped me in the beginning <3. I actually finished runner up in the first war despite having zero strategy or any understanding of wtffff to do. More importantly, I outlasted Adec - so it was worth it :P

The one chick I didn’t beat was again, Misacha Vaughan - who kicked my ass 9/10 times at the Go Kart track. So she’s tough and I’m waiting for a challenge where I can beat her ^-^

I notice the group tends to be a blend of visits to corporate sims (not usually my thing unless there’s something really different happening, thanks) and cool stuff like this. So far, both the activities I took part in were fun.

I took some really crap snaps - something has gone all wonky on my machine since I installed and de-installed the First Look viewer (which totally doesn’t work for meeeeeeeee *whines*) - so here’s a crap photo of Adec protecting his blue castle. Meh.

In other news, I shopped last night, which never really gets old when there’s new stuff out - or new to me anyway. In my travels, I (like the rest of my friends) picked up the Boogeyman coat by Krius Misfit of SiniStyle. I put it on this morning, along with a skin from Last Call that I never get to wear, and took a couple snaps while listening to “Open Your Eyes” by Snow Patrol (a remixed version from Adec - no he sent me the song not this weird YouTube thing). I don’t usually love emo music but I do love this song and it kind of inspired the next snap, which I promptly took to PS (which I also suck at) … so sorry, it’s not great but the words of the song made me do it <3 The music Adec sends me usually inspires me - mostly because he sends it :) I’m mushy like that.

I also finally got the hair from Naughty I wasn’t able to get at Hair Fair because I couldn’t keep from crashing every 2 minutes in that hell of lag. Before anyone (ummm you know who you are) says I already have too much hair - I did have too much before I boxed like 30+ up where they’ll probably be eaten by the LL trash compacter. I look rather prim and proper with this hair and this really pretty dress from Ivalde (the Julianne) that screams SUNDAY MASS - but since I am Jewish, I can wear it anyway and smoke a cigarette :) It also comes with shoulder prims, which I opted out of.

Lastly, and I have no snaps for these yet, I did the sale at Oh! What a Neat Boutique and picked up two (buy one, get one free) of Rosemary Galbraight’s new cocktail dresses (I cannot for the life of me remember the name, can’t find a blog or forum entry, and I am not in world at the moment). Will try to add a snap at some point. Editing to add the post from Celebrity Trollop at SecondStyle…so this is the dress I have in blue and black. I can’t get the prims to fit me correctly just yet, but since it’s copy, I can keep trying :)

Oh and I did a flyby the Last Call sale, where Ginny and Starley put out a ton of great outfits and all the Deviant Nation skins for big discounts. I didn’t buy anything but the crowd of ladies there (and by ladies, I think I might mean men in a few glamazon cases) always cracks me up and yeah, the lag was fun /sarcasm. Seriously though, we all love Last Call don’t we? Yup Yup.

So that’s all for now. I’m away this weekend - so have a good one :)

Need something to do?

Yesterday I was shopping around and ran into my pal, Mariya Nesiote at some shop that had just sent out a notice for somethingorother. We decided - since we run into each all the time - that SL is really made up of only about 30 people…and the rest are our alts. Wait, I do have a point…SL can be a reall small place sometimes.

I belong to a group that I sometimes affectionately refer to as my “nerd group” - the Dr. Dobbs group in SL. We talk about business, technology, etc. I get to chat with reporters that I know and people I respect IRL so it’s cool. I also get to meet some very smart people along the way. One of those is 57 Miles. Wait, I am getting there!

Then the other day I read on Jelly’s blog that the aforementioned 57 has a new group called “Things to Do” - which basically sends out notes daily on new sims, cool spots, and random things to do in SL. So I join obviously because ffs, how many times can one person buy a flexi dress? Plus, I am holding out for something sculptie.

So today I had some time since it was a holiday so I joined the group over at the ING Renault F1 track to try my skill go karting! And may I just say, I rocked? Well, I kinda did a little bit even though Veejay Burns blogged that I was “was disqualified for several false starts and certain bends caused real havoc.” Well, I might have jumped the gun once - but the rest of the time, I just smoked ‘em. That is until Misacha Vaughan took over. She was awesome and totally put the rest of us to shame.

So if you’re ever looking for something to do - or at least want the option to not just shop, IM or cyber lol, you can join up and see if any of the places look interesting. I am not around when they typically do events (1 p.m. SLT which is way more Euro friendly) but I do tend to check the places out later and a couple have been very good so far.

You can find the group in search<groups and check out Veejay’s libelous post here. Kidding, I was a trouble maker and he called me on it ;)

Super Fun Happy: End of the Line

If you’re not familiar with Arahan Claveau’s artwork in SL, then you’ve been missing out. Actually, if you’re not familiar with any provocative artists in SL, get thee familiar asap! Last evening, I attended the closing party for Super Fun Happy Club, which was Arahan’s art installation “end of the line.” I’m excited to see what he does next because, well, his art moves me deeply.

I came across Arahan’s work via Snapzilla, of which I am an addict. I then read all about the controversy and subsequent censoring of his work, when some closed minded asshats who couldn’t get “irony” if it bit them on the backside, AR’d him to Linden Lab. He was forced to comply or risk his account being banned in SL. Needless to say, the images were still powerful with “Censored” on them…only, it made a different point while at the same time, reinforcing the original intent of the installation. One can be persecuted for just about anything…

After visiting the Club for the first time several months ago, I sent Ara a note telling him how much his work inspired, saddened and generally made me feel. I won’t cheapen his work by trying to describe it here…but it is raw and totally unapologetic - I completely dig bravery.

You can see my unedited (read: kind of flat) images from the party on my Snapzilla stream to the left. There are also great pics from Adec Alexandria, Nebulosus Severine (who is also an incredible “arthole” I must say), and many others. In attendance were some of the most creative, open-minded people I have heard about or met in SL. I was glad to be there.

Note: I added links to Arahan’s SFHC Flickr stream. I hope that’s OK.

Slap Happy

I have a problem. When I am amused by a gesture, I overuse it. This may keep me going for days….
