These are a few of my favorite things

I am going through the process of cleaning out the virtual closet. Boxing things up, passing some things on and yes, even deleting quite a few items that I either bought when I was too new to know better, hated after I put them on or knew I wouldn’t wear again. I recently did the same thing with hair and reduced my hair folder by more than 30 folders containing ummmm too many wigs.

Instead of showing the items I am going to be trashing (O.o), I thought I would show a very (very) small number of things that I love and can’t imagine boxing up anytime soon.

Like a lot of “fashionistas” (I actually hate that label BTW - it’s wetodit), I keep a very tidy inventory - you kind of have to if you ever want to find anything again. For the most part, I organize my closet by type (jeans, casual dresses, gowns, swimwear, pants outfits, suits, etc. etc.) and then by designer, and then broken down all over again by ranges of looks from the designer. “Dresses” for example, is broken down into such anal categories that I can’t imagine sharing that kind of crazy with you.

Anyway, tonight after briefly attending an event, I started hacking away - and frankly, only got through like 5 folders :/ But, it’s a start. I hope to complete this by the end of the year at which point I will probably no longer be in SL anyway

So without further ado, a few of my favorites (from the folders I started on)…

The first outfit I found in my “Skirts>Trashy” folder (lawl). It’s fitting though because the name of the outfit by Arbel Vogel of Winter Moon is “Scum.” It comes with four tops, ripped stockings and a super short (scummy?) prim skirt. All pieces have the requisite holes and tears. I do love this outfit and find that I wear the top the most with a whole host of other wardrobe staples. I am also wearing my Dollfie Exalted boots from Nevermore Studios and Willis II hair from ETD (smoke blackened).

The next outfit comes from my “Dresses>Capped Sleeve” folder (yeah, anal - I warned, I warned). It’s the Spankyspots dress in Earth from Marly’s. The prim skirt has beautiful movement to it and it comes with cute shoulder poof things which on the right outfit, are great. I’m wearing the Lisa II hair (dirty burnt) from ETD as well. It’s a very cute dress and actually, all the items I own from Marly’s, I love. Like for instance…

This one, also from Marly’s called Agent Pushbutton in Ash. There aren’t many opportunities (for me at least) to wear a piece like this in SL, but I am never deleting this very classy look. I don’t feel right about wearing it now that it’s summer where I am (is that weird?), but I am sure I will pull it out come Fall. I have on the Tyra hair from ETD on (dirty).

This next dress is in my “Dresses>Hybrid” folder, which means that I primarily wear the dress version of the outfit, but that it contains another look - in this case, a capris outfit. I don’t copy the items and create a new folder under “pants outfits” for this one unless I absolutely need to. Again trying to keep inventory bloat in check - plus “Hybrid” tells me there’s something else in there. This piece is the Roslin from Savvy? And OMFG it has so many options in it. Honestly, I think there are 10+ mix and match layers/colors in the folder. There’s definitely a look for everyone - and yessssss, it’s a sytem skirt and I slove it. It’s beautifully made and definitely one of my current favorite pieces. I have on the Tyra hair again from ETD (dirty) and the shoes my avatar lives in - the Tuxedo Pumps from Shiny Things.

Finally, I started on my “Dresses>Babydoll” section and noticed that somehow I have amassed a ridiculous collection. One of my friends calls these my “pregnant dresses” when I wear these in SL but I wear them all the time in RL (no, not pregnant lol) - particularly when it’s as hot as it has been around here. This is one of my fave babydolls from Last Call - the Hellenas in Olympus. The texture on this dress is a-mazing and I might be one of the few people in the world whose favorite color is orange (yeah, I know). When I wear this dress in SL, I get to pair it with the great Spring Stilettos from Shiny Things in sunset (yup, orange). Grrrr, wtf with SL cankles???

Maybe later this week I will tackle the rest of my dresses folder - including the beast that is going to be gowns. A girl’s gotta have teh pretty yes? But this is getting ridiculous.

This is my favorite garden in all of SL…and strangely, it’s not where you’d expect to find it. It’s a very small corner of a technology magazine’s island - Dr. Dobbs. They have done a beautiful job on this specific piece of their sim. I find I come back to it whenever I need a shot of color.
