Close-up on Amaretto
You probably know that Lux Yao of Amaretto has only been designing for somewhere around five months. Looking at her designs might fool you though. She has quite a range of designs in circulation from casuals to sweeping gowns. She has also dabbled in jewelry, shapes and poses. Is there anything this woman doesn’t have a hand in?
While we wait for Lux to release her “Amaretto Sour” line (I have seen a few of the edgy pieces on the woman herself by the way - so yes, this is not so subtle pressure
), Woo helped me take a closer look at some of Lux’s latest dresses. Not all are brand spanking new, but newish.
Starting with the appropriately named limited edition “Widow,” featuring a wine and embroidered bodice, and pillbox hat and veil. You can see the evolution of Lux’s texturing especially from the last few releases - the bodice is detailed and delicate.

The skirt is the same mesh veil - very sheer and flexi. We both had to mod the skirt to get it right (frankly, I’m not sure that I succeeded completely but it’s not the skirt, it’s me). This shot also shows how very un-mournful the dress really is with a deep, plunging back cut.

My absolute favorite new dress is the red “Stella” - with prim sleeves and system skirt bottom. It would have worked better if Woo was wearing a dress named, “Blanche,” but her dress is “Lilianne.” Notice how she is still wearing her mournful hat? It’s because she wanted to wear Stella too.

More from Lux after the cut…
