Channeling Ivana Trump with Royal Blue…
…without the blonde hair, curves and billionaire
in the “80s Power Dress” from Marni Grut and Royal Blue.

If you own other items from Marni then you know her fashion is interpretive and her designs, a little unexpected. The 80s power dress is no exception with flexi skirt, bold shoulder accents and a strong collar. If you’re old enough to have any memory of the 80s aside from Sesame Street, it was the decade of excess and this dress absolutely delivers.
I paired the dress with the new “Jagged” earrings from Diamonde - accessories that I thought worked well with an 80s inspired dress in particular. I would like them in black next

More after the jump…
As you would expect from anything 80s, the dress is short and completely unapologetic about it. I kept a bare leg for the purposes of showing the dress as it was provided, and though you could add stockings, I actually preferred it this way. I suppose if I was being totally true to the 80s, I’d be wearing wilder hair and some very deep tan stockings that don’t match my skin
I also chose not to wear a necklace as the collar and the completely open cut of the top are the focal points.

From far, it’s a very well done little black (power) dress but from close-up it was the subtle shading that made me most excited. It’s well done all around. You can also wear it sans collar and sleeves, but I prefer it with, as those are what make it a power dress after all.

The dress doesn’t come with martini or Trump Tower apartment, but it does come with a more than reasonable price tag of $200L.
