Evolution at *AnnaH*

posted in Accessories, New Releases |

Annah Whitfield of AnnaH is someone whom I’ve grown to know over the last several months and have had the pleasure of watching grow as a designer in Second Life. It’s one of the reasons I enjoy blogging - to appreciate the evolution of someone’s craft - whether just starting out or pushing the limits of what’s possible in SL fashion. I think that’s what my blogging is really - personal appreciation in my own small way.

As a reminder, Annah was a very new designer just a few months ago - and though I have never tried to design anything in SL - I can imagine how challenging it is to get out there and enter the highly competitive fashion scene here.

This week, Annah released some new items that I think show her transition into a more experienced designer from a texturing perspective in particular. They’re simple and classic staples - the long wool “Paris II” shorts and bright knit “Phillippa” tops - and to me, they’re a good example of how far she’s come. In the first picture (taken in Windlight and still not lit correctly *sigh*), I am wearing the new “Brisque” skin from LF Fashions Chai (this is a group freebie!) and Truth’s “Dakota” hair, along with the new AnnaH top and shorts.

In the below picture, the skin is TaP “Automne 3,” hair by Naughty, shorts and top (on the left) from AnnaH and top from the Last Call “Kamryn” outfit on the right.

The necklace is the new “Heart Window” necklace from Yummy. I love this necklace for its flexi tassel and intricate prim work. I have no idea if there are plans for this in silver, but I would love that.

More from AnnaH after the jump…
The details on the shorts are well done, with drawn belt and warm, blended wool texture. The prims are modifiable so you can resize them if you need to. I would love to see these offered in the future with sculpted cuffs if/when Annah ventures into those. I think I’ve been a bit spoiled by sculpted attachments with shorts and trousers in particular, even though I generally subscribe to a “less is more” approach when it comes to prim accents. Here, I am wearing a top by Last Call (from the “Alais” outfit) and a turtleneck sweater with sculpted neck by Armidi (mens). My shoes are the “Ninette” ballet flats from Last Call Vamp.

The cable knit v-neck tops are equally well-textured in a host of bright and basic colors, though I would have loved a longer version on the jacket layer. Admittedly, I’m not a huge fan of bare midriffs in general, and especially when it’s winter ;) However, they’re great for layering as they’re provided on every layer and would be a good match for high-waisted trousers. I picked a few of my favorite colors to show you below. My hair is “Tiffany” in dark brown by Aden. I don’t know about anyone else, but I am seriously missing new hair releases from Aden Breyer!

Prices

  • Paris II Shorts: $75L for singles; $300L for the 5 color pack
  • Phillippa Tops: $100L for packs of two colors or a discounted pack of all 10
