Close-up on Launa Fauna new skins

…From Launa Fauna’s new Chai skin line of course. I said earlier I am not around as much but when Launa IMs you and invites you to take a closer look, you don’t hesitate. They are so worth jumping in-world and and trying out. Let me show you why.

First a reminder that these snaps have not been post processed in any way. Simply cropped and framed.

There are five skin tones in the new line - and each tone has eight makeups. Here’s a look at each tone and then I’ll drill down a bit into my favorite makeups. Also, you can submit ideas for new makeups you’d like to see via the suggestion box at the Freelon shop. I know I’ll be doing that as I’m most after the very red lip of the Mistress makeup, with the smoky eye from the Torrid makeup.

Tones from left to right: Sugar (Nude), Cream (Torrid), and Ginger (Mistress)

Tones from left to right: Honey (Becca), Cinnamon (Celebrity)

My favorite tone is the cream tone. The make-ups in all the tones range from dark and smoky to barely there. There is literally something for every mood, outfit, occasion and time of day. They are all very, very well done. And yes, those are strong, realistic brows that I happen to love.

For me, make-ups are far and away the most important part of a skin. But that said, the Chai body is impressive (please try a demo to do your own inspection of bits and butts - I was happy with them). The shading is subtle, the tummy is soft and feminine, the collarbone is defined but not protruding and the shoulder blades are lovely. I am showing you the body wearing my favorite shape from Lemon (Sugarblue), which has a few more curves than my own shape. I do not wish to be broadly offensive :p

In addition to the skin you purchase for $1200L each or significantly discounted packs, you get a freckled skin. The packs also come with face lights and a bald for eyebrows (which are tintable!!). I would encourage you - if you are not great at sliders - to use the caps that come with the demos in various colors to get the brows that best match your hair and tone. They are provided in black, brunette, blonde, white and red.

More make-ups and the freckles after the jump…

Cherry Tokyo Kimonos

I am not around a ton at the moment but I do log-in for special things and this was one of those times where it was worth it. Now, I don’t have any offline OR online experience with kimonos or Japanese styling, but I am so glad SL gives us the opportunity to experiment with things that me might admire offline but couldn’t necessarily wear.

I am ashamed to say I didn’t know Cherry Tokyo made hair in addition to her beautiful kimonos and accessories. How I missed this, I really don’t know. At any rate, to my delight, she does. That’s what spurred this post in fact.

First is Cherry’s newest hair, called “Yuki.” It comes in five colors and I thought was very beautiful and simple. It’s obviously non-flexi. The two textures below are Black Cherry and Black Maple, but there are five provided in each fat pack.

My favorite of her hairs (and I now own every one in her shop) is Juniper, which is a dramatic, long over the shoulder braid with flexi ends. Juniper is unlike any hair I have in SL, but I am enjoying experimenting, especially with something like this.

I am also wearing one of Cherry’s new Kimonos called, “Tomesode” as well as her new “Zori” shoes and purse sold separately (the purse animates you into the pose you see below). I think it should be quite clear the absolute beauty of Cherry’s work, but just in case, there’s more after the jump.

Ode to a Wifey on her Birthday

Contrary to popular belief, Puma Jie’s birthday is this Friday so you still have time to wish her many happy returns of her day. You also still have time to pick up special Corduroy leggings in a GINORMO pack specially priced in honor of Puma’s special day. There are 11 in all for only $75L, including one pair that you can tint any color you like! These will be gone after Friday so this is your last shot.

By the way, those cute little jumper dresses are something that another Puma Wifey - Ana Boogiewoogie - is working on for later release…They’re not done yet but they’re going to be great.

Now for the mushy part of my post, which I never do here but am compelled to do at the moment…Pumajie, you are a dear friend whom I’m so glad to have met and I love you. Happy birthday woman!

OK, my personal favorites of the bunch…

Channeling Ivana Trump with Royal Blue…

…without the blonde hair, curves and billionaire ;) in the “80s Power Dress” from Marni Grut and Royal Blue.

If you own other items from Marni then you know her fashion is interpretive and her designs, a little unexpected. The 80s power dress is no exception with flexi skirt, bold shoulder accents and a strong collar. If you’re old enough to have any memory of the 80s aside from Sesame Street, it was the decade of excess and this dress absolutely delivers.

I paired the dress with the new “Jagged” earrings from Diamonde - accessories that I thought worked well with an 80s inspired dress in particular. I would like them in black next :)

More after the jump…
