Resistance is Futile: “Eight Random Facts” meme

posted in Uncategorized |

(side note: I fell in love with the Snow Queen from Nicky Ree, skin from TaP and hair/crown from Miriel. It’s really a stunning combination and I have been trying to take decent pics in windlight…still working on that because snapshots in windlight are borked for me. If you’re experiencing the same when setting your resolution higher, vote on Jira)

Hawks, Ana, Annah, and Carissa tagged me for this “eight random facts” meme, and I resisted as long as I could, so here we go.

8 random facts about Gillian…

1. Last night, my horse (yes, I have a horse) began a two day journey to his retirement farm in Tennessee after many, many years being my competition partner and more importantly, my pet. He will still be my horse - just farther away :( I’m emotional and sad as a result - not to mention worried and hoping that he arrives safely.

2. I grew up in a town where a former US President now lives…

3. I was a double major in communications and sociology. I actually started my undergrad degree in musical theater (against my parents’ wishes - and that was soon squelched) but today, I mostly just sing in my shower.

4. I have been riding horses since I was very young and with that has come numerous broken bones including 3 cracked vertebrae, left wrist, collar bone, left leg and all of my toes at one point or other. I’ve had 2 surgeries and have a reconstructed shoulder complete with titanium capsule that I like to think makes me the Bionic Woman. I have a pretty ugly scar that goes all the way under my left armpit, although it’s faded over time.

5. I am a seriously picky eater. I hate any foods/beverages with creamy consistencies - like mashed potatoes, whipped cream, yogurt, milkshakes or chowder. I will never eat anything that mixes meat, fish or fowl with fruit (orange chicken, applesauce with pork, etc). Fruit is dessert! I also don’t like chocolate and mint together. Blasphemy!

6. I collect shoes and bags and compulsively - so much so that I will never admit to my mother how many I have. Ironically, I rarely utilize bags in SL.

7. It takes nearly an hour to do my hair the way I like it - even if I have nowhere special to go :x This is especially annoying to “shower and go” friends lol. I don’t do this all the time, but I really, really want to.

8. I didn’t travel much in 2007, but my top three dream places to visit someday are: Egypt, Bora Bora and Hawaii (never been!). Realistically though, in 2008 I’d like to restart some little mini-vacations like my once annual scuba trips to a tiny island in the Bahamas called, San Salvador Island (sometimes commercially referred to as Columbus Island). I love to scuba and have seen several kinds of sharks close-up but the last time I went was before I saw the movie Open Water, which scared the crap out of me. I might have to stick to snorkeling.

I see that most of the people that came to mind have been tagged numerous times…so I am breaking the rules and sparing others. I kinda hate doing these things though I like to read them on others’ blogs, so I guess that would be random fact #9 ;)

Sorry for the spam!

I grew up riding horses too. My grandmum back in Britain had a great farm and we had two horses, whom I loved dearly. Chocolate and mint.. EUW. I’m with ya.

Hurrah for horses! Myg and I also ride (fun fact #X) though nowhere near as much as you. (We live an urban existence, so we can only ride at Myg’s mom’s place in another state.) Sorry to hear about your horse’s retirement, that sounds tough.

p.s. I think socks are your SL version of bags. :P

Hi Gillian. I hope your horse has made the trip OK and is settling in just fine. I had to retire my horse a couple of years ago after many years of being my partner and showing. It was one of the hardest things I’ve had to do, but after his injury, it was the only thing I could do for him. These days, he’s happy doing what he’s doing, being lord of the pygmy goats and having an ancient show pony as a pal. Cheers.

Hi Heidi - thank you :) He is doing well. Settled in and I think, enjoying not being ridden anymore. I get videos and pictures daily and mostly it looks like he is rolling and eating and snoozing in the sun. He is still in the quarantine paddock for another few days before he can meet his new friends :) Until then, his best friends are also goats lol. I will be visiting in a couple weeks - YAY!
