La Sylphide: Liliana Skins by Stephanie Misfit

I previewed one of Stephanie Misfit’s new skins in an earlier post and now they’re available for everyone to try at her new shop, La Sylphide (one of the most famous ballets) at Fashion Victim Headquarters.

My pictures won’t compare to her ad above - and these snaps have not been post-processed beyond cropping and framing - but here’s a look at the collection and why I think these skins are very special. (Pecan - Coral shown below)

Liliana has one of the most distinctive faces in SL, yet it doesn’t look the same on everyone. It’s what I would call a strong face, coupled with signature, natural brows and neutral eyes. Like most of my skins, I created a bald especially for Liliana to get the brows the way I wanted them.

If the face is the focus, then the real stars of Liliana, in my opinion, are the brows and lips. They’re unmistakably original and the first thing I noticed when I first glimpsed them while stalking Steph’s pictures. (Hazelnut - Burgundy shown below)

There are currently 3 tones and 8 make-ups available for each tone. If you’re visiting her shop, be sure to pick up the 2 free skins available in black and white versions. I doubt though, that you’ll be leaving empty handed because singles are only $500L and you can buy an entire tone of 8 for $3000L. That is a steal.

Oddly for me, I don’t have a “favorite” tone because I will absolutely be wearing them all. So with that, you’ll see them all here, as well as the body. These are hybrid skins of select sourcing and a hand drawn body, which for me, adds up to a seriously lovely overall look.

All the make-ups and the body after the jump…

Starting in-depth with the fairest tone - Almond. 8 make-ups with lips ranging from the most velvet matte red to an iridescent nude shimmer. The lips on all the skins remind me a lot of the lips I wear offline in winter - the moisture rich variety without a sticky gloss.

Almond tone from left to right: Crimson and True Red

Almond tone from left to right: Tulip, Nude and Rose

Moving on to the mid-tone - Pecan, which has some fantastic lips to complement the golden tone of the skin. You saw Coral above, so here’s the rest.

Pecan from left to right: Cinnamon, Nude and Golden

Pecan from left to right: Tulip and Cabernet

Pecan from left to right: True Red and Crimson

Before I get to the last and darkest tone, here’s a look at the body. I’m wearing Pecan - Cinnamon in these snaps. This is a hand drawn body with lovely backside and a defined tummy. The bits are not barbie-esque so you do get bits if you care about that. I could tell you what they look like in great detail but you could more easily try them for yourself via demo. While I like the body - and particularly the cleavage and subtle clavicle shading - I still believe the real motivator for my adoration is the face.

Finally, the deepest tone - Hazelnut. A dramatic and seriously striking tone for those who wish to stand out. You saw Burgundy above, so here are the other 7.

Hazelnut from left to right: Toffee and Chocolate

Hazelnut from left to right: Tulip, Nude and Mulberry

Hazelnut from left to right: True Red and Crimson

Did I not say it was all about the lips? Yes. Liliana is Stephanie’s first skin and I think it’s a triumph. I hope over time, we’ll also see some different eyes and perhaps, both lighter and even deeper tones to play with. Either way, I applaud her. Contributing something beautiful to Second Life is brave and gives one’s time here additional purpose. I really don’t think you can lose in trying these.

Find them at La Sylphide.

That woman has some serious skills, I was also amazed at how flexible the face is, you really can make it your own look without losing the best features of the skin. They’re perfect for all kinds of use, modelling everyday, more artsy ventures, and the price is incredible.
