Signs of Spring

(SL snapshot taken with the Release Client using a Torley preset)

If you make your home anywhere close to where I do in the Northeast US, then you know we’ve begun to see signs of spring here and there - sandwiched in between the last gasps of bitter cold. At any rate, in SL, I find that I am a lot less likely to put on a jacket or sweater, and much more interested in lighter-looking “fabrics,” brighter colors, and springy make-ups. In fact, when I actually have more than 10 minutes in SL, all those jackets and sweaters will be packed away for the season, and sadly, very likely disappear into the recesses of the asset server.

Over the last week, I’ve taken several snaps of new releases and older favorites that make me think of spring. The very popular new items from Veschi are pretty perfect if you’re thinking warmer - but not too warm - weather. I LOVE the colors of the hoodies and this whole ensemble is very much in line with what I wear offline when the temperatures go up a bit. What doesn’t show up very well in the Windlight Release Client against my skin tone is a very pretty anchor necklace from Caroline Apollo.

You may have seen by now that they come in both sleeveless and long sleeve versions - with extra large hood and the GREATEST sculpted cuffs. You have to hand it to Alla, she gives us all a jolt of color but in a very creative way.

All the make-ups I am wearing in this post are the spring and summer seasonal Vogue skins from Starley Thereian and Celestial Studios. If you’ve not yet picked them up, you can find them at Skin Fair. I don’t believe that I own other skins that are as perfect for the lighter glosses and fresh looks I favor offline in spring and summer.

The “Bike Jackets” above are newish from Nylon Outfitters. They come in a pack with three colors - plus white tank - and I thought went well with the very “springy” trousers from Elephant Outfitters at Armidi.

Much More after the jump…

Big Booty Big Money was one of the first shops I ever blogged a long time ago - and it’s a brand I have followed ever since. The new “Gentle Creature” dresses are beautiful examples of how Evelyn’s designs have evolved over the last year. I love the colors, the use of the system skirt, and the dramatic, feathered attachments that make this dress truly special (and by the way, completely affordable).

The pose on the left and right is a special pose created just for this gown. It’s very consistent with what BBBM offers - a bit offbeat, definitely unique, and all with a bit of dark humor.

Perhaps more summer than spring (I love to rush things), the new “Polka” babydoll dresses from Adam n Eve come in lovely bright colors with unabashed polkadots. I know some people say the babydoll thing is over and done, or maybe overdone, but I think that done well (interesting textures, fresh colors), they are great late spring or summer options. Shai’s “Seven Year Itch dress” (with scripted skirt that billows just like you would expect) is a classic that you really can’t go wrong with.

The “Jeanius” high-waisted trousers also from Veschi and sweet new “Bird” dress from CRAP were the first two things I grabbed to blog for this post. I love the freshness of blue and white together.

But you can also pair the Jeanius trousers (or shorts) with brighter tops. Like here with the gold pair, coupled with an older top from Culture Vulture (unfortunately, I don’t know if this shop is still around).

Nicky Ree, queen of beautifully textured dresses, still has classic “Spring Romance” dresses available. In fact, there must be a dozen or so colors available now. This one - though again it’s slightly washed out in Windlight - is the rose, a very light blush pink. My shoes are also from Nicky.

Finally, an older favorite of mine in an ornate, Asian floral print and fresh green, is “Indochine” from Celestial Studios. You can wear it as a gown or as a much more casual capris set. It has been in my inventory for quite a long time, but it’s still a stunner. If I recall correctly, I purchased this at Last Call, where as of yesterday, it was still set for sale. I’m not sure if you can find it at Starley’s own shop as well, but I suspect so.
