Jaywalking is…

…discontent with the road system and its lack of consideration for non-vehicular traffic. If you’re willing to take the risk, do it. (From Lyra’s NEW blog).

But what is Jaywalk? It’s Lyra Muse’s new shop and label of course. You can find Jaywalk at Lithium City - which is the newest addition to the new Quad. Not only can you get well-heeled, you can loiter in the grittiness at the Quicky Mart, which is totally what I do. I mean, there are Slurpees there!

Lyra is holding her grand opening on March 31 (where she’ll be giving away awesome prizes like a $10,000L gift card!), but her shop is actually open now so update your landmarks and check it out today. She’s kept many of our favorites for sale, and added new colors to her much loved “Liah” and “Melisande” boots. These babies are optimized for Windlight technology and are - in my opinion - the best leather boots around.

Also used in this post are several poses just released from AnaLu!

Visit Jaywalk! (and don’t forget to check out the Live Nudes Dominus Shadow while you’re there)

Skin ~ Canimal Essence Grace…essence of Ambrosia
Hair ~ Aden Brooke and ETD Strength III (RFL Limited Edition)
Jackets ~ Armidi Limited Unisex Moto Leather Jackets
Jeans ~ Celestial Studios Black Destroyed Wash
Boots ~ Jaywalk Liah and Melisande of course

MG Fashion Silk Collection: A retrospective (and sneak peek)

Maria Gherardi, the driving force behind MG Fashion, has been a constant in my SL wardrobe since she started designing. In particular, her Silk Collection - featuring rich textures and bold colors, and innovative prim work - are usually always collectibles for me. Recently, I spoke with Maria about her design work in SL and got a look at what’s next. I hope you like it :D

The earliest releases in the Silk Collection were perhaps more muted than what we’re seeing now. But no less innovative, the “Silver Lake at Midnight” featured some of the first sculpted short pants I owned in SL, while “Mademoiselle Mimi” showed us Maria’s love of classic fashion with pleated skirt and pillbox hat.

Maria’s path on the way to becoming a virtual fashion designer started as I’m guessing many of our fine creators do. As a young girl, she wanted to be an archaeologist, then in her teenage years, it was the dream of becoming a famous fashion designer, and later, to be a psychologist. As it happens, she’s none of those things offline, but she has been able to live the dream of virtual dressmaker in Second Life.

Maria was prompted to start making clothes as a Linden balance challenged noobie - just like all of us - but with the taste of something finer. She says she’s inspired by items in her own closet, feelings, abstract concepts or just the freedom of experimenting.

Her later releases in the Silk Collection gave us some of the fresh colors that Maria is known for.

(wearing “Jupiter Crash” in Brick and Deep Red, and “Miss Parrot”)

See more and what’s next after the jump…
