Hi!

Hi! I know my blog continues to be quite still at the moment, but I do carve out the odd hour now and again to play dress up. Hopefully I’ll have more time as the summer rolls in…

At any rate, I chose my outfit based on a color I actually used to steer clear of. Now I find I am grabbing as much green as I can both in SL and offline. This dress is from Nicky Ree - the “Satin Shine Cocktail Dress” - with both a floral and a solid skirt. I collected basically all the colors of the Spring Romance dress, so this was an easy choice for me as it’s the same “cut” with fantastic texturing.

My hair is by my all time favorite Elika T, who (as everyone knows) released two new styles today to much rejoicing. I’m wearing both “Hayden” and “Celia.”

The round-toe pumps are new today from ETD as well. Beyond just being pretty, well-crafted and named after someone I adore, I’ll point out that everything Elika puts up for sale is totally affordable for everyone.

Kyoot Army Emerges from Silence

Do not adjust your screens, Kyoot Army is back from relative silence at Saeya’s spectacular new sim Silent. I knew we were in for a treat when she first starting working on her new sim, but I definitely didn’t expect this. If you haven’t been yet, there are some great pictures on Shopping Cart Disco, and I’ll show you some of the newness you can find on your travels. Starting with the ultimate new release from Kyoot, the Exquisite Corpse gown.

The texture of the dress is insanely beautiful with flecks of red, bronze and copper, all wonderfully perfect for the deep chocolate brown and black fabric. The collar is optional but if you’re wearing the dress as a whole, it’s a must. The light skirt (moddable) is a tiered bias cut that’s both sexy and classic for a corpse. The name of the garment truly fits the overall feel - it is, in a word, exquisite. It really must be seen in world to be fully appreciated because when you put it on, you want to find a place to wear it.

The skin in all the pictures is a Silent exclusive from Chai Skins (Whisper, Shadow); the hairs are nearly all from the COIF shop on Silent; the poses are new from Torrid Midnight at the Photosphere store on Silent; and the backdrops, also new from Saeya for the Photosphere store. It’s a bit harder to show the clothing details for me on a darker backdrop, but I knew I couldn’t use my usual for these pictures.

Next is the Deconstructed Socialite Jacket, which again features a bold collar in the same vein as the earlier releases from KA that were so popular. You can wear it sleeveless…

Or sleeved, depending on how truly deconstructed you are :p The boots are from Untone, and the jeans from Armidi. I added gloves from Last Call.

More after the jump…

Cherry Tokyo Kimonos

I am not around a ton at the moment but I do log-in for special things and this was one of those times where it was worth it. Now, I don’t have any offline OR online experience with kimonos or Japanese styling, but I am so glad SL gives us the opportunity to experiment with things that me might admire offline but couldn’t necessarily wear.

I am ashamed to say I didn’t know Cherry Tokyo made hair in addition to her beautiful kimonos and accessories. How I missed this, I really don’t know. At any rate, to my delight, she does. That’s what spurred this post in fact.

First is Cherry’s newest hair, called “Yuki.” It comes in five colors and I thought was very beautiful and simple. It’s obviously non-flexi. The two textures below are Black Cherry and Black Maple, but there are five provided in each fat pack.

My favorite of her hairs (and I now own every one in her shop) is Juniper, which is a dramatic, long over the shoulder braid with flexi ends. Juniper is unlike any hair I have in SL, but I am enjoying experimenting, especially with something like this.

I am also wearing one of Cherry’s new Kimonos called, “Tomesode” as well as her new “Zori” shoes and purse sold separately (the purse animates you into the pose you see below). I think it should be quite clear the absolute beauty of Cherry’s work, but just in case, there’s more after the jump.

Savvy?: A day at the races

Dakota Buck released a slew of new items again (yay!) - a few of which have horsey themes - so of course, I’m all over that. If you’ve been paying any sort of attention to the evolution of Savvy? then you’re aware that in addition to great clothes and accessories, she has some of the best branding and naming in SL. It’s clever and totally memorable. Personally, I love getting an understanding of what inspires the designers of SL. I always remember how an outfit came to be…

OK, enough chatter, here’s the first race day inspired outfit called, “Cup Day.” The Melbourne Cup is coming up and this is absolutely something you might see a lady wearing on race day. It has a silk blouse with delicate pearl buttons and knee-length skirt, leather riding gloves and my favorite part, a perfect bow at the back of the skirt. Layers? Check. Two sizes for all prims for easy sizing? Check. Thoughtful? Check check.

The hair is a new favorite from Hiccup called, “Slow Jamz 2007″ - which kind of cracks me up.

The leather riding gloves that are part of the Cup Day ensemble are also available in other colors - all rich leather with gold zipper accents. They also go with just about any Savvy? outfit you can think of, so I messed around in my Savvy? folder with other releases to show you.
