Happy New Year!

To those already into the celebrations - or already recovering - and to those who are still to ring it in (myself included), I wish you all a peaceful and very happy new year.

Though there are some deeply sad memories, there are also many especially happy ones. I truly treasure the friends I have made in Second Life and I am reminded of how lucky I am every day.

RFL 2007

rfl.jpg

Grazia Horwitz at Second Style reminded the fashion blogging community today that the big finale for Relay For Life is this Saturday, July 28 starting at 2:00 pm SLT. This is a 24 hour “walkathon” in SL for cancer survivors, their loved ones and everyone else who has an interest. I had no idea that nearly 27 million L$ had been raised to date but it’s now time to step up if you haven’t already and contribute for an important cause.

Grazia has detailed a few of the designer wares made specifically for RFL by Shai Delacroix and Nicky Ree for example. She’s asking other creators (not just fashion designers!) to send her ads so she can include them in a mega round up of special RFL offerings before Saturday…

“So whatever special designs you have, clothes, shoes, houses, gadgets, whatever, send me your ads, before Friday 27 noon PDT, and I will do a mega post with all the goodies that will be available exclusively for this Relay event”

See Grazia’s post and get involved!

Flashback at Ingenue

I have blogged Betty Doyle’s designs before but I couldn’t resist her new “Box Office Betty,” which is a completely fun retro set of outfit, hair, shoes and pose all for $325L! Now sure, you might not be wearing this in your everyday SLife, but you have to appreciate the creativity and fun that comes with Betty’s designs. Plus this is great hair if you do the retro thing. I had a great time with this set and I love the pose that comes with it.

The outfit consists of top (jacket), bottoms (pants), suit panel (prim), and blue satin shoes. The hair is Betty’s new Rosie O’Grady style in platinum. And again, the pose!

Icing…mm mm good

For whatever reason every time I TP into Mischief Cove, I crash (why only there?). So I haven’t been able to check out the growing list of shops of late. I managed to TP and not crash for a whole 10 minutes this time - and to my delight, there was *Icing* when I landed. The last time I was in Mischief, *Icing* was called something else, so for a couple minutes, I didn’t realize it was Miko Omegamu’s clothing and accessories shop. Miko is well known as a very talented builder (just look at Mischief Cove for one thing!), so it makes sense that the clothing does not disappoint in any way. Miko’s designs are definitely yummy. Admittedly, I don’t know how new these pieces are but they were new to me.

First there was “French Countryside,” which is perfectly named. It’s been a couple years since I’ve been to France, but I can definitely see the roots of the design. It comes in several colors, but being typical Gillian, I picked orange. I love the detail on the top, which probably won’t show as well in the snaps - but it’s so well done. The skirt is beautiful, light and summery, but the ruffled top definitely won me over and it’s something you can pair with lots in your wardrobe. French Countryside comes with glitch pants, top, prim bow and flexi skirt, and is priced at $195L. Permissions are No Copy/Modify/Transfer.

Next is “Azure Blooms,” which is a perfect blue sun dress. This was the dress that first got my attention when I TPd in. It comes with glitch pants, top, flexi skirt and prim bow in the back. I adore the color and just about everything else about the dress. Azure Blooms is also $195L with the same permissions as above and it’s gorgeous.

Finally, something a bit more formal but not tooooo formal, which is nice, because with such little time in SL these days, I never get the opportunity to wear any of the pretty formal dresses in my inventory. This is “Evening Promenade,” which is just what I would wear if I were to take a romantic stroll at sunset in my alternate universe ;) The dress is very elegant without being stuffy or overdone. It comes with glitch pants, top and skirt. I particularly like the sash that sets off the skirt so nicely. This dress is also $195L, same permissions.
